VII. 閱讀測驗 (10% 每題2分)
Friendship is a mysterious (神祕的) thing. It is a relationship between two people combining trust, help, close contact, loyalty (忠誠), and understanding. We don’t know what makes people become friends, and we don’t know why some friendships develop between two different people, either. We only know that friendship is an important part of everyone’s life. Thousands of books and magazines try to teach us how to make friends and maintain friendship, yet the whole thing is still a mystery for most of us.
When we were kids, we developed a clear idea about what a true friend should be. A true friend is someone who is loyal and can keep our secrets, who understands us and has the same values (價值觀) as we do. A true friend is someone who will always be there no matter how good or tough times are. However, is it really so?
One Harvard professor of psychology (心理學教授) observed that while people were willing to share sorrow with their friends, they often didn’t want to share joy with them. The truth is that we do not want to make our friends jealous of our success. Sometimes, we wonder if our friends are really happy for us.Of course, someone who is there to help when we are in trouble is indeed a good friend, but only someone who can sincerely (真誠地) feel happy for us can be called a true friend.
