       When someone says the word “pollution”, most peoplethink about pollution of the air, water and land. But there areother kinds of pollution, too. Noise pollution is unwanted orharmful noise, usually from anything man-made. There isalso light pollution.
       Light pollution comes from too much use of artificiallight at people’s homes or city buildings. Light pollutionwastes electricity and makes skyglow. Skyglow reduces ourability to see clearly the beautiful night sky and its stars.According to the 2016 “World Atlas of Artificial Night SkyBrightness,” eighty percent of the world’s population livesunder skyglow.
       In Taiwan, people are trying to protect special placesfrom light pollution. Not long ago, Hehuan Mountain wasmade Taiwan's first International Dark Sky Park. Naturelovers are working together with the county government toreduce light pollution. They want to enjoy the sight of skywithout light pollution. Hehuan Mountain Dark Sky Park isonly the third park of its kind in Asia.
