    “It’s not easy being green.” These are the wordsof a puppet named Kermit the Frog. Kermit is knownand loved by fans all over the world. Jim Henson wasthe creator of Kermit and many other puppets. Hensonhas been called one of the top artists and entertainersof the 20th century.
     Jim’s interest in puppets began early. In highschool, he made puppets for a TV show for children.In college, he made a short TV puppet show calledSam and Friends. This show included the first versionof Kermit. In 1963 he invented the Muppets. ThenFrank Oz became Jim’s partner. Frank was the voiceof Miss Piggy. The Muppets appeared in a number ofTV shows and movies.
     In 1969, Jim’s puppets joined a new TV show forkids. It was called Sesame Street. Bert and Ernie, BigBird, Grover, and Cookie Monster were a greatsuccess. The show has been on the air for more than35years. People in many countries love to watch it.
      Jim Henson died in 1990. Friends say he was akind and patient man.
