The king often felt embarrassed because he was very short. So he asked hisshoe-maker to make a pair of shoes with very high heels. Other men and women soon followed, and wearinghigh-heeled shoes became a way to show off. Later, men stopped wearing high-heeled shoes, but women keptwearing them.
