因為 day 和 date 兩字發音太接近所以為了避免混淆，當要問某事的日期時，根本是用不同的句型而不是直接問 What date比如要問今天是幾月幾號一般會說：What’s today’s date? 或 What is the date today?而不是 What date is (it) today?因為那會和問今天星期幾的 What day is (it) today? 實在讓人不容易分清楚(大家可參考 http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=889209裡面有提到他們一般不會說 What date is (it) today?)假使不是要問今天的日期，而是要問其他事情的日期也比較會用 What is the date of ……? 的句型，而不是 What date is……?比如：What is the date of the meeting? (那個會議是在幾月幾號？)...

date是指日期day是指星期一到日 , 或某一天date比較專只問日期而已，並未包括一天下來所有的時間 而day可以用來問日期以外，也有一天下來的任何時間的味道存在
