【評論內容】溶菌型噬菌體（virulent phage）在宿主細胞內能夠完成增殖過程，產生並釋放大量子代噬菌體，形成lytic cycle。潛溶型噬菌體（temperate phage）潛溶型噬菌體在吸附和侵入宿主細胞後，將噬菌體基因組整合在宿主細胞DNA上（或以plasmid形式儲存在細胞內），隨宿主DNA複製而同步複製，隨宿主細胞分裂而傳遞到兩個子細胞中，宿主細胞可正常繁殖，以上過程稱為「lysogenic cycle」。但在一定條件下，噬菌體基因組可進行lytic cycle。因此潛溶型噬菌體既能進行lysogenic cycle，還能進行lytic cycle。
