      One downside of ordering clothing online is that you can’t see what you look like until the clothing has arrived. A new application by a start-up company Zeekit has solved this problem with the first dynamic virtual fitting room, enabling shoppers to see how a particular garment fits on them without having to try it on.
      Zeekit was founded by Yael Vizel, a former Israeli Air Force commander. In the army, Vizel used to turn 2D photographs into 3D graphics for military mapping, and after she became the CEO of Zeekit, she realized this technology could be applied to the unique topography of each human body. On the Zeekit app, you simply upload a full-body picture of yourself and input your height and weight. Zeekit uses its patented algorithm-based technology to map your image into more than 80,000 little segments, and a clothing item is processed in a similar manner. The equivalent points of you and the clothing item are re-mapped into one final simulation. In this way, you can see how clothes look and fit on you specifically.
      Recently, Zeekit has already partnered with brands like Macy’s, Adidas, and Modcloth. These clothing sellers place the Zeekit button next to items in their online and physical stores. Shoppers tap on the Zeekit button next to an item and instantly see a virtual image of themselves wearing the item. Data shows an 18 percent increase in average order value (AOV), because shoppers using Zeekit are more likely to try on hundreds of outfits rather than just a few.
      The benefit of Zeekit extends to an area of online shopping that has long troubled retailers: Returns. Preliminary data shows an average 36 percent reduction in return rates because customers get a much better sense of whether that piece is for them or not.
      Clearly, Zeekit allows the entire shopping, trying-on and purchasing experience to be conducted in a much more convenient way, which leads to more satisfied and engaged customers as well as noticeable improvement in clothing retailers’ net income.
