(三) Getting Away with “It”         Peter doesn’t like math. He never listens to the math teacher in class. One day, when he was drawing in hismath book, the teacher said, ‟There will be a math test tomorrow.”Jill, Peter’s good friend, asked Peter, ‟Do you want me to help you with the test tomorrow?” ‟No, thanks. I think Ican do it,” said Peter. That night, Peter sat down at his desk with his math book open, but he didn’t know theanswers to the math questions.           The next day, the math teacher handed out the test paper. Peter looked at the first question and bit(咬) hispencil. He peeked(偷看) at his friend Jill’s paper. He copied(複製) the answer and he did the same thing over andover again until he finished the test.‟How do you think you did?” asked Jill after the test.‟Uh, pretty well, I think,” said Peter.         And he was right. Peter’s mother was happy with his math grade, so she cooked his favorite meal. Then hewent to bed early that night and had a strange dream. He dreamed a wizard(巫師) told him, ‟You fooled(欺騙)your mother, Jill, and the math teacher, and you’ll feel guilty(罪惡的) for the rest of your life!”Peter woke up right after the wizard spoke. He felt sorry for the mistake he made. There was only one way tomake things right. ‟Mom,” he cried out from his bed, ‟I need to tell you something very important....”
