Charles Dickens was born in the UK in 1812, and he died in 1870. He began to write in the 1830s. In fact, he only went to school for a few years. He started to work at the age of 12 after his father was out of job. Dickens worked ten hours a day in a factory then. Later, he wrote down this experience in David Copperfield. It was Dickens’s eighth novel. Tolstoy, a great writer, said, “David Copperfield was Dickens’s best novel. He put so much of his own early life in it.”        Because Dickens experienced the hard times in the UK in the 1800s, he wrote a lot of stories about the working-class people at that time. He had a lot of great works such as A Christmas Carol and A Tale of Two Cities. Some of them were adapted for movies and TV programs. Now many people around the world still read and love his books.(A) Dickens didn’t start to work until he was twenty years old.(B) Dickens’s early life was much like the story in David Copperfield.(C) A Christmas Carol and A Tale of Two Cities were written by Tolstoy.(D) Dickens was sixty-eight years old when he died in 1870.答案:(B)
