問題詳情

Plastics can be made into different products, from bags to clothes. People love using plastics because they are light, cheap and they are not easy to break. However, do you ever wonder where these plastics go after putting them into a trash can? To many people’s surprise, many of them end up in the oceans. This becomes a vicious cycle in food chain. Plastics enter the oceans and slowly break down to little pieces. The fish eat them as food. The plastics will stay in the fish’s bodies for a long time. When fishermen catch the fish and send them to markets, people eat them without knowing there are plastics in the fish. The plastics then enter people’s bodies and make them sick. If people keep using plastics freely, there will be more plastics than fish by 2050. At that time, all the fish in the market will have plastics in them. It’s time to do something before it’s too late. The first thing people can do is to use fewer plastics. Reusing plastic bags is an easy way to start with. What about the trash in the sea? Two Australian surfers may find a way to clean it up. They created “seabins.” Seabins look like trash cans, but they are put in the sea. When garbage floats near seabins, they pull it in. With the help of seabins, the oceans may be clean again.
