Mazu is   21   a sea goddness for blessing the fishermen and safe trip during the sailing. There are alot of believers in Taiwan because of her kindness picture. So, Mazu pilgrimage is one of the popularreligious activities in Taiwan.
         During the whole pilgrimage, Mazu's palanquin carriers   22      only on foot, many pilgrims wouldfollow the steps of Mazu's palanquin, the most traditional way is following by walking, but still plenty of thepilgrims would by scooters, cars, or bicycles. Besides, the time and route of Baishatun pilgrimage are not thesame in the different year,   23      6 days 5 nights in 2009, or there were 12 days 11 nights in 2017, too.
         The most special feature of Baishatun pilgrimage is the route.   24       the way of leaving or returning,the route is unpredictable in advance. According to the Mazu's palanquin carriers, they said they could feelMazu's will and showed them where was the next direction or where to stop 25 . Pilgrims only know thelocation of beginning and end. Therefore, people regard the Baishatun Mazu as the most challengepilgrimage in Taiwan.
