這裡的one與ones是代名詞，因不想重複前面已有的名詞(shoes)，所以用ones代替複數名詞。原句：My old shoes are cheaper than the new shoes.=My old shoes are cheaper than the new ones.雖然前後指的「鞋子」並非同一雙，因為名詞部分皆為shoes，所以能用代名詞ones替代。若句子已出現的名詞為單數，則使用one代替即可。例：I'm wearing a blue shirt, and my sister is wearing a white one.
