(二) We are saddened by the tragic loss of life and harm caused during the deadlyshooting at Michigan State University, and we offer our deepestcondolences to the families, friends, and communities of the victims. Theshooting comes as a stark reminder of the tragedy of gun violence and isjust the latest in a long string of similarly traumatic events at U.S. schoolsand higher education institutions. These traumatic events call for urgentattention. Together we must ensure that students and educators, whether atschool, on campus, or elsewhere, are able to live and thrive safely andsecurely.
