問題詳情

3.        Stress is part of everyone’s daily life. The important thing to know is that there are two kinds ofstress: acute or short-term and chronic or long-term. Quarreling with your friend or studying for an exammight cause you acute stress. Acute stress is not dangerous since it doesn’t last long. It’s the second, chronic stress, that we should be careful of.       It causes serious health problems likeheart disease and cancer. Indeed, chronic stress can even kill you!        Chronic stress comes from the way we live. Some people work too hard for a long period of time. The Japanese even have a word karoshi, meaning "sudden death from overwork". A bad environment, such as working in smoky offices, driving to and from work in heavy traffic for one or two hours, or takingcrowded commuter trains, can also cause chronic stress. Or it may come from working with people youdon’t like.       How do people deal with chronic stress. Some people eat too much, or eat sweets too often, andsome people try to relax by drinking alcohol. Unfortunately, these ways make the problem of stress worse.Instead of feeling better, people who eat or drink too much become sick or fat.        There are better ways to control chronic stress. One way is to take medicine to relax. But takingmedicine over a long period of time can cause other problems. Perhaps the best way to fight chronic stressis to control our lifestyles. We should look at the way we live. Regular exercise is helpful. It keeps theheart healthy and helps us stay physically fit. In addition, we should be careful about what we eat anddrink. We should not eat too many foods that have a lot of fat or sugar.
