        I once had a student called Eric. Eric was a troublemaker (麻煩製造者) and didn’t like to study. He always struggled to pass the exams. He didn’t like anyone, and even himself. One day, I caught Eric cheating on the exam. He thought I would fail him, but I decided to give him a different lesson. I asked him to go to a nursing home once a week for a month.
        At first, Eric did not like this idea. However, after he went to the nursing home, the kindness of the elderly people there changed him a lot. Every week before he went to the nursing home, he prepared many songs and funny shows for them. All the people there loved him and looked forward to seeing him every week. Suddenly, Eric had a greater purpose in life---bringing happiness to other people.
        The visits to the nursing home made Eric like himself and care about other people. What’s more, it also made me realize that there are even greater lessons to learn outside the classroom.
