II. Reading Comprehension: Beethoven’s full name was Ludwig van Beethoven. He was born in Bonn, Germany, in 1770. At age five, Beethoven studied the violin, and he soon started with other musical instruments. When he was only twelve, he got his first job as an organ player. He wrote four musical compositions that year. In 1792, Beethoven moved to Vienna, Austria, where he studied with the famous composer Franz Joseph Haydn. Beethoven spent the rest of his life in Austria. He wrote symphonies, operas, and much more. At age 27, Beethoven learned that he was losing his hearing. He kept this a secret for a long time.
