         Every year, Zhenlen Temple in Taichung holds a bigreligious event called the Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage. This isthe largest and most famous Mazu pilgrimage in Taiwan.The pilgrimage travels from Taichung across three citiesover nine days. The total length of the trip is around 350
kilometers. Tens of thousands of people from all overTaiwan usually join the pilgrimage.

Dos and Don’ts for the Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage
1. Start eating only vegetables (no meat at all) three daysbefore the pilgrimage.
2. Gambling, smoking, and drinking alcohol are notagreed during the pilgrimage.
 3. If this is your first pilgrimage, you should dress in newclothes to show respect.
