問題詳情
三、 閱讀測驗(16%,一題2%) Tyzen Hsiao Tyzen Hsiao(1938~2015), was a famous Taiwanese musician. He was born in a Christian family. When he was little, he showed his talent in music. As a child, he learned playing the piano at his age of seven from his mother. Although he got good grades at school, he chose to be a musician rather than being a doctor. And this frustrated his father. Hsiao’s father was a famous dentist in Kaohsiung. As a college student, Hsiao majored in piano and composing. Not surprisingly, he became a high school music teacher after graduating from college for a time, and at the same time, he got married. Hsiao’s wife supported him to be a musician, so he chose to study in Japan. And he mastered the skills of composing from his teachers at that time. Unluckily, Hsiao has to be away from Taiwan because of the failure of his wife’s business. He moved to Atlanta in the USA in 1977. There Hsiao made a living by selling some gifts; he played the piano for himself when he had free time. One day, when Hsiao was playing at his shop, an elderly woman stopped and listened to the beautiful songs Hsiao played. She asked Hsiao “Young man,” “You are so talented,” “Why are you here?” Her question made Hsiao think he should keep doing something for music. Over the eighteen years in the USA, Hsiao composed a lot of songs: “Taiwan the Formosa”, “Never disregard Taiwan”, “The Cello Concerto in C” and other beautiful songs. In 1995, Hsiao came back to Taiwan and finished some great works with his belief. And he earned a name “Taiwan’s Rachmaninoff”. Thanks to Hsiao, we can love our land through his songs.
