The 7-year-old Alex Pring was born without most of his right arm. Questions such as “Have you been bitten by a shark, orwas it an alligator?” used to be part of Alex’s daily routine. However, unfriendly comments and jokes never took away Alex’soptimism. The world’s number one Transformers fan would not quit dreaming. Despite the tough, uphill times that the Pring family had experienced, Alyson, Alex’s mom, was set on helping her son. Itwas not a secret for the Prings that the cost of a professionally made prosthetic arm could be upwards of US$40,000. For them, such solution was not feasible. What’s more, insurance companies typically do not cover that cost for children because of howquickly they grow. At the point where Alex’s dream of having two arms seemed to recede more and more, Alyson found out about e-NABLE,an international community interested in developing and providing 3D printed hands to all who needed them. Albert Manero,UCF graduate student and e-NABLE volunteer, responded to Alyson’s request to help Alex. Albert gathered together a smallteam of UCF students from different fields, including engineering, arts, and nursing. The soon-to-be-called Limbitless Solutionsteam started their journey with Alex Pring in June of 2014. After eight weeks of tireless work, Limbitless Solutions was able todeliver their first robotic arm to Alex. Alex’s Transformers arm moves by electrical muscle commands, and the design wasproduced by a 3D printer for an affordable amount of $350. However, the arm was given to the family free of charge. Alex’s story proves to the world that no dream is too small or too big to pursue. Even though Limbitless group had noprevious experience in developing 3D printed arms, Alex’s energy, enthusiasm and optimism made everyone in the team share hisdream and give their maximum effort to make it come true. Seeing Alex’s huge smile after he picked up something with its rightarm, the team is determined to make other kids feel as happy and special as Alex Pring feels now.

應該沒有寫到「技術幫助生活」喔!內容是描述技術團隊突破技術瓶頸,利用3D打造技術讓7歲小男孩Alex的夢想成真。由最後一段可以看出整個故事的主旨,Alex’s story proves to the world that no dream is too small or too big to pursue.(Alex的故事向世界證明,追求夢想沒有太小或太大的問題。)Even though Limbitless group had no previous experience in developing 3D printed arms, Alex’s energy, enthusiasm and optimism made everyone in the team share his dream and give their maximum effort to make it come true. (儘管Limitless 團隊之前沒有開發3D列印手臂的經驗,Alex的活力、熱情及樂觀使團隊中的每個人分享自己的想法...
