Forty years ago, two humanbeings walked on the moon, 45 today it’s possible for anyone to follow in theirfootsteps with the service of Moon in Google Earth. This service is giving hundreds ofmillions of people around the world unprecedented access 46 an interactive 3Dpresentation of the Apollo missions.Google Earth users can access the new upgrade to explore the moon through panoramicphotos and previously 47 NASA video footage shot on the lunar surface. Theycan also follow along as Aldrin and Apollo 17 astronaut Jack Schmitt offer 48 videotours of the moonscape. Users will also be able to view the latest rover concepts by teams49 in Google’s X-prize, a US$ 30-million international competition starting in 2007.The competition challenges private groups to build a robot able to land on the surface of themoon and have it travel 500 meters 50 send images back to the Earth.
