Seliwanoff’s test : A test for ketose SUG-ARS in solution. The reagent used consistsof benzene-1,3-diol (resorcinol) dissolved in hydrochloric acid.A few drops are addedto the solution and a red precipitate indi-cates a ketonic sugar. The test is named forthe Russian chemist F. F. Seliwanoff.
