Have you ever heard about “Burning Man”? It’s anevent held every year since 1986 in the western UnitedStates at Black Rock City. It was first held on BakerBeach in San Francisco by Larry Harvey and Jerry Jameswho built the first “Man”. It takes its name from its ritualburning of a large wooden man that happens on theSaturday evening of the event. The late summer event isan experiment in community and art. It will last 9 daysand ends on the first Monday in September, which alsothe Labor Day in the USA. Every year, the theme of theevent which is chosen by the organization, the BurningMan Project, may be different. The themes are in theareas of art, education, culture, etc. Before 1990, it wasfree to join the event. However, people have to pay forthe tickets after 1990 and the fee seems higher and higherevery year.
