Songkran
In my country, Thailand, our most important festival is Songkran. It's our New Year festival. It always
happens in April, and it's always a lot of fun. Everyone knows about this festival because you can throw
water on other people! This brings good luck for the next year. You can buy delicious food on the street,
like papaya or chicken with special sauce.
Many people go back to their hometowns during Songkran. They want to spend time with their families.
On the first day, they clean their houses. On the second day, they play games with water. On the third day,
they visit the temple and wash the Buddha statues. They use water with flowers in it, so the statues smell
nice and fresh.
Songkran is my favorite time of the year.
