Angiodysplasia2 nd MCC Hematochezia, with diverticulosis being #1. It’s in the cecum b/c law of Laplace (wall stress and radius). The diameter of the cecum is bigger than any other part of the colon. B/c the diameter is greater, the wall stress is greater. Therefore, putting stress on the vessels in the wall of the cecum, it actually pulls them apart and produces telangiectasias. As a result, it predisposes to angiodysplasia b/c increased wall stress. If one of them ruptures to the surface, you can end up with significant bleed.
