問題詳情

七、閱讀測驗
Communicating (溝通) with the opposite sex (異性) can be like putting two pieces from different puzzles (拼圖) together. At the age of three, boys and girls begin communicating in different ways. As they grow up, the differences develop in opposite directions.
In the men’s and women’s discussion groups, Jennifer Coates, the writer of Women, Men, and Language, has noticed one main difference. Women talk mostly about their personal lives. They continue with the same topic until everyone has a chance to speak. They also make sure everyone joins in the conversation. Men, on the other hand, talk about certain topics, such as sports, cars, and travel. It is to find out who knows the most about each topic. The most knowledgeable member will quickly take control, and the rest just listen without saying a word.
The difference is very clear: men communicate to show power, while women communicate to build friendships. Men ask questions to collect information (資訊). Women, however, ask questions to continue a conversation. As a result, the best way to understand the opposite sex is to learn how the opposite sex communicates. Learning these differences will allow men and women to put the pieces together and hopefully solve the puzzle.
