Philosophy of Life
Most of us are no strangers to the saying, " When life gives you lemon, make
lemonade," by which it means when something bad happens in your life, you can
still make the best out of it. Not many people, though, know where this saying came
from or when it was first used.
To begin with, we need to know more about Marshall P. Wilder, who was an
actor, and one of the first person with disability to become famous in his own way.
As a child, Wilder already found himself pretty good at telling stories and making
people laugh. Later, he even learned to make a little money from his stories and
funny acting. When Wilder passed away in 1915 at he age of fifty-five, Elbert
Hubbard, a Christian writer, wrote an obituary to praise his hard-working. Hubbard
wrote, " He has a sound mind in an unsound body . He picked up the lemons that
fate had sent to him and started a lemonade-stand." After reading this, is your heart
filled with both respect and sadness as mine is? It happens so often that those who
bring us the most happiness are at the same time bearing the greatest misfortune in
their own lives.
Like Marshall P. Wilder, those who were born with disability choose to try their
best to live their lives to the fullest. No matter what the difficulties they face, they
always keep trying and never give up. They always believe that God never closes
the door without opening another.
