Part 1

      Some have long eyeballs. Then they are "shortsighted." For these people, it is hard to see things far
away. Everything in the distance looks blurry. For example, one student sitting in back of the
classroom usually says “Teacher, I can’t see clearly. May I go to the front?” He has difficulty reading the
blackboard.
      Some people have a different problem. They have short eyeballs. These people are "farsighted." They have a problem seeing things close to them. That makes it hard to read a book.
      Shortsighted people need glasses. Farsighted people also need them. If they don’t have glasses, they cannot see clearly.
Part 2 More And More Kids Need Glasses
      Today, more and more people are needing glasses. It is a big problem for young people.
We are not really sure what’s wrong. Someone thinks it might be because children are spending too much time inside. They might not have enough sports time. Maybe they are reading too much. We still do not know.
      We hope to learn more. We want to understand why some people have short or long eyeballs. If they can get answers, maybe they can fix the problem. Then people will stop needing glasses. That means no more lost glasses!
