Florence Nightingale was born on May 12 in 1820 and died at age 90. She came from a richfamily and had a very good education. She liked helping people when she was little. In 1851, shewent abroad to take care of poor people for three months. After that, she decided to become anurse. Her parents were unhappy about it because nurse was a good job at that time. People whowere poor would choose to be a nurse. A war broke out in 1853. Nightingale was the first woman to help people in the war. Whenshe arrived at the hospital, she found out how terrible the hospital was. Many soldiers died notbecause of the war but of the poor condition of the hospital.
