問題詳情

When Does Your Intelligence Reach the Highest Point?        Are we really at our smartest in our 20s? What about the wisdom and experience that come with age?      A recent study showed that different kinds of intelligence reach the highest point at different ages.       We can deal with the information most quickly at around age 18 or 19. Our short-term memory tops at around the age of 25 and stopsrising or falling for about ten years before it starts to slowly become lower. In the same way, our skill at knowing and rememberingdifferent faces (together with many short-term memory pieces of work about seeing things) is greatest when we are in our early 30s.We are usually not able know other people’s feelings well until we are in our 40s or 50s. Also, our knowledge as a whole, includingword knowledge, and our understanding of the big picture, usually don’t top at until we are around 50 years old. After that, they becomea little lower before staying the same during our 60s (and finally going down again in our mid-70s).         The best age for intellectual activity also appears to be changing with time. For example, Nobel Prize winners are doing their prizewinning work later and later, which is consistent across fields of study. So even if you still can’t find your keys, it may not be too lateto write that novel or to deal with that new plan when a good idea comes to mind.
