2. TKB NEWS Sep.22, 2014        Writer John Martin just won the biggest Writer’s Award inour country. Martin started writing when he was only sixyears old. He said he loves words because they have helpedhim find an outlet for his thoughts and feelings. Writing ishis life.        Martin’s life has its ups and downs. He published his firstbook, My Stories and Songs, at the age of 11. It was a greatsurprise to the world because it was beautifully written, andthe stories and songs are wonderful. After My Stories andSongs, Martin wrote another three books, Spiders and Bugs,Life in a Treehouse, and You Never Know. The last one wonhim Teenagers’ Best Writing of 2001. In 2003, life gaveMartin several blows, which made him stop writing.Martin’s mother died in that year, and he felt it was the end ofthe world. To make things worse, he was sick and poor.When Martin almost lost his hope for life, he saw an old book,The Light of Life, in a second-hand bookstore. He read thebook and was touched by the messages in it. He decided thathe would write for his dear mother from then on.        In 2014, his new book, Many Thanks, Mother, came out. Itsoon became a hit. In it, Martin remembers his late mother,gives her his thanks, and celebrates his new life.This Sunday afternoon, 3 o’clock at Bookworm Bookstore.Martin will read parts of this best-selling book to his readers.It will be a touching moment.
