If the quality of the mucosa apical to the recessions is considered inadequate for root coverage, the procedure is combined with the placement of a CTG.In the mandible, the placement of a free CTG with an “envelope” or a “tunnel” preparation is preferred because of a thin mucosa apical to the recession and often the presence of multiple frenula, that is, condi‐tions not suitable for a coronally advanced flap.
