問題詳情

VI. 閱讀測驗
Human beings have long known how colors affect their lives. Take ancient (古老的) Egyptians (埃及人), for example. They bathed in different colors of light to get different skin colors 4000 years ago. Today, researchers (研究者) are still trying to find out how colors can change the way people feel and better their lives. With such a rainbow of colors painting the world, it makes sense to learn more about them.
Turning on a blue light before a person takes a bath in warm water has been proved (證實) to be relaxing (令人放鬆的). That is because the color blue can help calm the mind as well as the body. The color pink has similar effects (效果), and that’s why some prisons (監獄) in the United States are painted pink to help the prisoners stay calm. However, the same color can annoy many coaches in the sports field. In 2010, two American universities painted the walls of the locker (衣物櫃) rooms for the visiting teams pink. They hoped it would relax the visiting teams and reduce (減少) their chances of winning. The coaches of the visiting teams felt angry and complained that they had not been treated fairly (公平地). As a result, a new rule now states that both sides’ locker rooms must be painted the same color for the fairness (公平) of the game.
If a person wants to create a room for social purposes (意圖), painting the walls yellow would be a great idea. This is because yellow can make a room brighter and bring people happiness. In another case, the color red makes people hungry, and thus many restaurants use red walls and seats.Learning how to apply (運用) colors to life can be very helpful. Let’s lead a colorful life!
