The Lion, the Donkey And the Fox
Fables are stories that teach us a lesson. This fable is about three friends –Lion, Donkey and Fox. One day, they went hunting together. Lion and Fox were good at hunting, but Donkey wasn’t. They caught a lot of prey. At the end of the day, they put their catch in one big stack.
“Time to share,” growled Lion. “Donkey, you’re good at counting, so divide it fairly,” he said.
Donkey carefully counted the catch into three equal stacks. Happy with his work, he smiled and called his friends. When Lion saw the stacks, he roared loudly, “I eat the most and I caught the most. Fox, you divide the food.”
Fox made three new stacks. The biggest was for Lion. The smaller was for himself and the smallest was for Donkey.
“Well done, Fox,” said Lion. “Where did you learn such common sense?”
“From Donkey,” said Fox. “He taught me a lesson by making a big mistake. it is wise to learn from others’ mistakes.”
