Phonemic Awareness音素意識,包含:Isolation:夠鑒別單詞中某一個單獨的聲音e.g., What vowel sound do you hear in hill?(/ı/)Blending:將單個音素拼合成一個完整的單詞的能力e.g., 聽到/b/, /ɛ/, /t/ 拼成bet /bɛt/Segmenting:將完整的單詞拆分成單個音素的能力,和blending相反。Addition/Deletion/Substitution:增加音素,刪除音素,更換音素的能力。e.g., log這個單詞,如果在前面增加/b/這個音素,就變成了blog        play這個單詞,如果去掉第一個音素/p/,就變成了lay這個詞        cat這個單詞,如果把中間的音素換成/Ʌ/, 就變成了cut這個詞。
