問題詳情

(四)
Tom:I have worked a lot these days. My boss has reached me on my smartphone at all hours. I really hate that.
Emily:Why do your boss’ phone calls make you so angry?
Tom:It’s not only his phone calls. He has also given me work to do through LINE.
Emily:I see. Do you often get your boss’ messages after work?
Tom:Yes, very often, and that’s not the worst part.
Emily:Really? It sounds pretty bad to me.
Tom:When I check my LINE account, the messages get marked as read, so my boss knows I saw them.
Emily:Why is that bad?
Tom:Let me put it this way. If I don’t answer the calls from my boss, he can find someone else to do the work.
However, if he sends me messages on LINE, it will be hard for me to pretend I don’t see them. Last Friday, I was
asked to buy him coffee on my way to the office at five in the morning.
Emily:I feel sorry for you. Smartphones are really useful for your boss.
Tom:Don’t you have the same problem?
Emily:Not really because my boss seldom gets in touch with me after work.
Tom:That’s hard to believe. How do you keep him away?
Emily:That’s easy. I don’t have a cellphone.
