問題詳情

[C]    Many young people today are developing more interest in science and magicbecause of the popularity of Harry Potter books, written by British author J. K. Rowling.Reading about wizards, flying broomsticks, and disappearing ink found in these books hasattracted people to this fantasy world.       On the surface, science may appear to be totally different from magic. Science seeks toexplain things about the world while magic often seems hard to understand. But a mixture ofthe two can help young people learn science while they are doing fun activities.
One example of a magic trick that involves science is called “The Sticky Card.” Toperform this trick you need a playing card. Ask a friend to place the card against a wall to see ifit will stay. Of course, the card will not stay. When you place your card against the wall, however, it will stay. The trick is to drag your feet as you walk toward the wall. This causeselectrons to move from the carpet to you, building up what is called static electricity. This staticcharge will cause the card to stay when you place it on the wall.
Magic is often based on scientific ideas. Understanding the truth can help you realize thismagical world and even help you become the next Harry Potter.
