問題詳情

(B)    Here comes Lee’s story:
“My sister is 10 years old. Every morning at 7:00 she goes to
work, and every night at 9:00 she comes home. Her boss treats her
badly. He hits her if he thinks she is working slowly, or if she talks
to other children, he yells at her. He comes looking for her if she is
sick and cannot go to work. I feel this is very difficult for her.
“I don’t care about school or playing. I don’t care about any
of that. For 600 rupees (476 NT dollars) we can give the money
back to the mean boss and bring my sister home. That is our only
chance to get her back.
“But…we don’t have that much money … we will never have
600 rupees…”
Stories like this are all too common everywhere. According to
the information from International Labor Organization (ILO),
at least 152 million children in the world are in child labor,
and half of them are doing dangerous work. In Africa, 20% of
their children are child workers, and 72 million is the number
if you'd like to know. The problem is far away from us? Not
really. In Asia and the Pacific, we have 62 million child
workers, second to Africa. The picture below shows the
information about child labor in the world.
