Formosat-5
        August 24, 2017, was an important day for everyone in Taiwan. A satellite, Formosat-5(FS-5), was sent into space successfully in its orbit 720 kilometers away and around the Earth. This was a great step for Taiwanese space science. Why? Though FS-5 was the fourth Taiwanese satellite in space, every part on it was first made with all its Taiwanese skills, especially the CMOS image sensor(圖像感光元件).
       Taiwan was the first country to use this kind of sensor in the world. It can help record climate and environmental changes for our government to make timely decisions with its high resolutions. So we can have enough time to prepare for typhoons in advance.
        The plan was not easy. It cost much money and took six years to carry out this plan. Scientists worked on it day and night through many tests until now. Now we can sit on a sofa and watch the weather news clearly on TV, we have to be thankful and proud for our scientists.
