      People are sometimes afraid of something or doing something. However, in some cases, if people are far too scared of some things or situations, we will call it “phobia.” Phobias are surprisingly common, and it has great influence on people’s lives.
      There are different kinds of phobias making different people crazy. People with “claustrophobia” don’t feel comfortable when they are in a very small room or space. But there are still some people scared of being with many people or in large open space. It is called “agoraphobia.”Also, people with “acrophobia” are afraid of high places. For example, they don’t go to places such as bridges, towers and tall buildings. These are three common phobias.
      However, there are some famous people with other strange phobias. A famous actor has nothing to fear in his movies, but he has a fear of eggs. We call it “ovophobia.” Don’t you think it is quite surprising? The next phobia is “ venustraphobia”, it is a fear of beautiful women. People get dry mouth, fast heartbeat and shaking when they see beautiful women. Another special case is “spectrophobia.” People with it hate to look at themselves in the mirror. And now, “nomophobia” is more and more common. Every time cellphones can’t work well or are out of power, people with this kind of phobia will get very sad or even quite angry. How about you?
