問題詳情
(四)閱讀測驗 (1) Have you ever heard “the Great Pacific Garbage Patch”? People say that it is one of the biggest dump in the ocean now. You might imagine a mountain or an island of floating trash in the water when you hear "garbage patch”. However, this is not the case. The Garbage Patch is more like a soup of tiny pieces of plastic and chemicals. Garbage collects there because of the way water moves and wind blows. Those pieces are so small that even people on ships passing by will not notice them. Then, does it mean it is not serious pollution? The answer is “Yes, even though you cannot see the trash, it’s already been a serious problem.” Some marine animals which live on plankton might eat the garbage by mistake and then they would be choked, starved, or suffocated. Many sea animals have been dead because of this reason these years. We, human beings, should really use less plastic and recycle more. We should also keep plastic out of the ocean. patch 補丁; dump 垃圾場; imagine 想像; tiny 微小的; chemical 化合物; plankton浮游生物; choke 哽住; starve 餓死; suffocate 窒息
