2.　　  Steve worked very hard and had little time to take a rest. One day, he decided to go on a trip to a small town in the mountains. He arrived at a B & B late that evening. Mrs. Liu, the owner of the B & B, showed him to his room. Steve was very tired and went to bed right away.　　  The next morning, he went to the dining room for breakfast. Rebecca, Mrs. Liu’s daughter, sat next to him, but Steve was surprised to find an empty chair at the table. Rebecca told him the empty chair was for her father. She said, “Two years ago, my dad went mountain climbing by himself, but he never came back home. My mother believes he will come home someday and keeps preparing a meal for him.” Rebecca showed Steve her dad’s picture. Then, Steve heard a man coming up to them. It was the man in the picture. Steve jumped up and ran out of the house quickly. Mr. Liu asked what happened to Steve and then knew that Rebecca told the story about the empty chair again.
