         Hans Christian Anderson penned 150 fairy tales or so in his life. Once he published his first tales in 1835, he immediately received recognition. Unlike other storytellers whose text was   41   spoken folk tales, this literary icon based his stories mostly on his own imagination. Moreover, his stories lack some elements   42   most fairy tales.
        The Little Mermaid, for instance, does not have a happiness-ever-after ending. Likewise, The Little Match Girl and The Steadfast Tin Soldier provide no   43     conclusions. Anderson also rooted out magical spell that spread almost all over the fairy land. Instead, he created magic with the strange human quality that flowed through everything he wrote. This sense of humanity and a closeness to fundamental human experiences make Anderson universally   44     and appreciated at all.   45   describing an animal like a duckling or inanimate object like a tin soldier, Anderson always succeeds in making them human.
