as if意思為｢好像...似的」，多用於表達與事實相反的假設語氣，與as though(彷彿)用法相同，但用法上會因引導子句與主要子句發生的先後而有不同。as if引導子句與主要子句同時發生，as if引導的子句動詞用過去式(were/V-ed)：The little girl worked as if she was an adult.(小女孩工作起來像個大人似的)as if引導子句比主要子句更早發生，as if引導的子句動詞用過去完成式：The little boy acted as if he had not broken the window.(小男孩表現得像沒打破窗戶的樣子)
