【D】How to Avoid The Social Networking Trap
Here are some do's and don'ts for how to be safe at social networking sites.
Don’t believe everything you read online. Watch out
when someone wants to know too much about you. Also be careful when someone keeps saying good things about you. Pay attention to people who try too hard to help you. They may be kidnappers who try to win your trust.
Watch what you write. Never post your bad behavior such as drinking, smoking, or taking drugs. Think carefully before sharing your thoughts about social or political news. Your future professors or future boss may learn more about you by visiting your social networking websites. They may decide whether they want you to study at their universities or work in their companies based on what they read about you.
Protect your information with passwords. Use only the social networking websites that let you protect your information with passwords. In this way, you can keep your online “friends” from reading some information.
Stand up to cyberbullies. Take actions if someone is posting mean information about you. Teens should tell their parents or teachers. Parents or teachers can complain to the social networking sites and ask them to remove it.
