         Although not quite a driverless car, the Tesla Model S has many special features, such as autopilot(自動駕駛), road changeassist(切換車道輔助) and automated parking(自動停車). The most surprising of these, autopilot, works by using a forward radar(雷達), 12 long-range ultrasonic sensors(感應器) put around the car, a forward-facing camera and a digitally-controlled electricbraking(煞車) system.
         The camera reads road signs(交通號誌) and checks for things in front of the Model S’, while the radar and ultrasonic(超音波)sensors sense five metres (16 feet) around the car to check for cars in traffic. The data will go back to the car’s engine control unit(ECU), which will tell what roads the Model S needs to take. The idea is to give more comfort for the driver.Autopilot has already been seen as a factor(因素) in many deaths. Walter Huang played a game on his smartphone when hisTesla Model X crashed into a highway barrier(護欄) in Mountain View, California, in March 2018. Huang was using Autopilot anddid not brake or go away from the barrier. The National Transportation Safety Board asked Tesla to find a better way to senseif drivers are distracted.                 Earlier this month, Canadian government said that the driver of Tesla Model S was asleep, and that the car was driving itselfwhen it drove to 150km when the police tried to stop the car.
       Tesla has promised to fix Autopilot system, but the company has not said anything for more driver safety measures(措施).
