With all the distractions surrounding us today, it is getting harder to concentrate. Concentration may be a tricky skill to master, but it can be done if you use some techniques to help you. First of all, turn off all outside noise. Many of us, teenagers as well as adults, try to do our work with music playing or the TV blaring, unaware that it’s harder to concentrate when there’s too much noise around us. Next, it’s important to get enough sleep. If you get five hours’ sleep or less, it’s not likely that you’ll be able to concentrate. Instead of burning the midnight oil to finish a project or prepare for an exam, go to bed early, get up early and go back to work. You can also do more exercise. Exercise not only helps you relieve stress but also sharpens your mind by removing unnecessary worries, thus helping you clear your thoughts. Furthermore, if exercise keeps your blood flowing faster, it also makes more blood flow to your brain. Last but not least, start and maintain a schedule. In this way, you can focus on the very task, leaving other tasks until you have finished the task at hand.
