問題詳情

 Paragraph A
Thinking of visiting Geneva, Switzerland? There’s no better time than right around mid-December. That’s when the whole city comes together to celebrate a historic day—December 11, 1602. On that day, the city maintained its independence by fighting off an attack by the Duke of Savoy. Geneva and its people honor this important event with its annual Escalade Festival, complete with music, marches, and the acting out of the famous battle. Plenty of food and drink can be had, with free wine and chocolate even being handed out. The highlight comes at the end of the festival weekend, when a grand parade makes its way through the Old Town. The whole thing ends with the lighting of a large fire in Cathedral Square, smashing marzipan-filled chocolate pots, and lots and lots of singing. It’s truly a joyous time.
