B-5 閱讀測驗與文意選填 A.                    A Vet’s Death      Last year, a female vet took her own life with the drugs that she used to take animals’ lives. The news of suicide shocked everyone around her.      Chih-Cheng Chien, who graduated from a top university in Taiwan, could choose a desk job from big companies at first. However, out of her passion and love for animals, she chose to be a vet in an animal shelter in Taoyuan City.     Unwanted animals in Taiwan are mostly caught on streets and taken to shelters for their death because there is not enough space for the unwanted animals. In reality, around 10,900 animals were put down in 2015. Of course, Chien was labeled “a beautiful slaughter” by animal protectors after an interview where she told the reporters she had ended 700 animals’ lives.      Under a lot of pressure, she left a letter which said she hoped her departure could let all people know animals are also lives. Maybe Chien’s love for animals will be remembered by all of us.
