(四)    Should dealing with (處理) death always be grieving? “Notat all!” many Mexicans (墨西哥人) may say this way, “Deathcan be seen as something different.” Dia de Muertos, Day of theDead, is a Mexican holiday celebrated from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2throughout Mexico. The holiday focuses on getting family orfriends together to remember those who have been dead.    In tradition, people will go to the cemeteries (墓園) andbuild “ofrendas,” a small raised place where candles, food, flowers, drinks or gifts are put, to honor (表達尊敬) and prayfor the dead on Dia de Muertos. Mexicans think it is not scarybut joyful and meaningful for them to visit the graves (墳地) oftheir loved ones on this holiday. In many places, people havepicnics at the grave site (地點) as well.     Like jack-o’-lanterns on Halloween, the most popularsymbol (象徵) on Dia de Muertos is the skull (頭骨), the headbone of a man. You can almost see skull decorations everywhereon this holiday. Even children give the candy or chocolate in theshape of skulls to their friends as gifts. To celebrate Dia deMuertos, many Mexicans in big cities will put skull-like maskson or dress up as the dead people to join the parades.    Although many people in the world are afraid of talkingabout death, Mexicans teach us something that facing death andenjoying life are both important. Through celebrating death, wecan understand how amazing life should be. Death is not just theend of life but the enlightening (啟發) of the alive.
