The farmer, the son and the donkey
         A farmer and his son took their old donkey to a market in the nearby town. They would sell the donkey and use the money to buy a small new donkey. The weather was hot, and the two men and a donkey walked slowly under the sun. Suddenly, they heard some men laughing under the tree across the road. One of those men said “Those two guys are really stupid,   39     ? They can just ride the donkey,   40     ? But they choose to walk under the burning sun. How stupid!” The farmer said to his son “He’s right. Get on the donkey, son.” As the farmer walked with his son riding the donkey on the country road, they passed a big house with a beautiful garden. There sat an old gentleman and his son. The old gentleman told his son “I can’t believe this! The son is the worst son ever,   41     ? He rides the donkey and makes his father walk under the sun. ” The farmer told his son, “Well, maybe he’s right. Let me ride the donkey.” The son got down the donkey. Later, the father and the son passed another house. A woman and her daughter stood at the door. The mother told her daughter “This father is so bad to his son. He has his son walk under the sun,   42    ? I will never do this to you, my sweet girl.” The father and his son decided to ride the donkey together. When they were getting close to the town, they heard someone shouting at them. A fisherman shouted from the river bank “Can’t you see the donkey is so   43    ? You two are too heavy for the donkey. It can hardly walk now! ” The farmer and the son didn’t know what to do. Finally, they picked up a long stick from the ground, and tied the donkey to the stick. They carried the donkey on their shoulders and slowly walked to the market. On their way, all they could hear was people’s laughing. An old woman laughed and said “I   44     two men carry a donkey since I was born. Aren’t donkeys for riding and carrying things? It’s something new to me!”The story teaches the readers   45     one can’t please everyone and should learn to let go of others’ criticisms.
